LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane named MLS Player of the Week

September 3, 2013

Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 27 of the MLS season, his second such selection this year. Keane set up the Galaxy’s opening goal and then scored twice in their 3-0 win over San Jose on Saturday, giving him 12 goals and 10 assists on the season.

Keane created the game-winning goal in LA’s dominant 3-0 win over the Earthquakes, as he drew two defenders toward him before sending a pass behind the defense to Landon Donovan for a score and a 1-0 Galaxy lead.

Just before halftime, Keane also converted a penalty kick to give LA a 2-0 lead, and later capped off his performance with another goal in the 67th minute.

Keane has had a stellar 2013 season, as he is the only player with 10 or more goals and assists in MLS this season.

Because of international commitments, the Galaxy will be playing without Keane, Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez, and Jaime Penedo when the team faces the Colorado Rapids at home on Saturday, September 7.
