Injured Clint Dempsey will not play for U.S. Men's Team in upcoming friendlies

The U.S. Men's National Team, currently rolling on all cylinders with a 12-game winning streak, will be without forward Clint Dempsey and midfielder Fabian Johnson, both of whom withdrew from the U.S. roster for the team's upcoming friendlies against Scotland and Austria.

Dempsey suffered a right calf strain in training Wednesday morning in Glasgow, while Johnson has a persistent right ankle injury that will require further evaluation. No replacements will be added to the squad which now stands at 21 players.

The U.S. first faces Scotland on November 15 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, followed four days later by the friendly with Austria at Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna.

The United States is concluding a tremendous year, highlighted by reaching the World Cup final competition for the seventh-consecutive time and a first place finish in qualifying in the CONCACAF region.
