Clippers' Tobias Harris named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week

November 26, 2018

The NBA's most underrated team this season finally received some recognition, as the league announced that Los Angeles Clippers' forward Tobias Harris has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for Week 6 (games played Monday, November 19, through Sunday, November 25).  This is Harris’ second career Player of the Week award.

Harris helped the Clippers to a 3-1 week behind averages of 24.8 points and 8.8 rebounds, in addition to shooting splits of 56.5% from the field, 45.5% from three-point range, and 91.7% from the free-throw line. He tallied a career-high tying and team season-high 34 points in Sunday’s win over Portland, capping a week in which he scored at least 24 points in three of the team’s four games, and logged a team-high +13 in his 12-point performance against Memphis on Nov. 23.

Prior to this season, little was expected from a Clippers roster that had plenty of solid veteran players, but no superstar talent.  However, the Clippers have defied expectations thus far, as the team sits atop the Western Conference standings at 13-6, and have won nine of their last 11 games, including eight straight at home.

Now in his eighth NBA season, Harris has been a key part of the Clippers' success, as he is averaging career-highs in points (21.5), rebounds (8.7), field goal percentage (52.5%), three-point percentage (42.7%), and minutes (35.1). He is the only player in the NBA currently averaging at least 20 points and eight rebounds, while shooting over 50% from the field and 40% from three-point range.
