Tyson Gay Runs 9.69 Seconds in the 100m in China
TRUTH: At the World Championships Gay said he could run faster than 9.71 and he proved to be correct. Just when you think that Usain Bolt is in an altogether different league, Gay puts up a time to remind us that he could one day defeat the Jamaican superstar in a head-to-head meeting.

TRUTH: After a slow start, Spain finished the tournament with convincing wins over Serbia, Greece, and a French team led by Tony Parker and Boris Diaw. The victory should be particularly sweet for Pau Gasol, who erased any painful memories of his foul line bricks during the '07 tournament, by winning MVP honors.

EADLINE: The Dallas Cowboys Lose Home Opener at Their Beautiful New Stadium
TRUTH: Despite dominating in the trenches with 251 rushing yards, the Cowboys fell to the Giants on a last-second field goal. Should Dallas fans place blame on the team's four turnovers? Or perhaps find fault with the defense's poor tackling? Both are logical explanations.

But the real kiss of death for the 'Boys occurred when George W. Bush came out for the ceremonial coin toss. The man who ruins everything he touches managed to keep his streak alive by cursing the new stadium's coronation. Jerry Jones would be wise to ban both Jessica Simpson and Bush from all future games.

EADLINE: NFL Great Herschel Walker Announces His Entrance Into the World of MMA
TRUTH: Even at 47, Walker is a workout demon with a karate background who could surprise a few opponents. But what's being overlooked is his NFL Hall of Fame candidacy.

Despite spending some of his prime years in the USFL, Walker ranks among the top 10 players in career total yardage. He is the only player to have 4000 career yards in rushing, kick returns, and receiving, and is the only man to have scored a 90-plus yard touchdown via rushing, kick return, and receiving in the same season.

More importantly, with Dallas, Walker was an absolute terror for defenders, and a versatile, multi-position matchup nightmare. During his Cowboy years, Walker made several Pro Bowls and was a legitimate MVP candidate. As such, he deserves a spot in Canton based on the Gale Sayers precedent -- a short window of dominance, if spectacular enough, warrants one's admission into the Hall of Fame.
