Holiday Bowl to match Pac-12 against ACC in 2020

The Holiday Bowl in San Diego is changing its annual matchup between two of the Power Five Conferences, as the Pac-12 will continue to put forth a team in the game, but the Big Ten will not participate following the expiration of its six-year contract.  In its place in 2020 will be the ACC.

Pac-12 moves 2020 Football Championship Game to Las Vegas

In a wise move that should bring more eyeballs and interest to the Conference, the Pac-12 today announced that the 2020 and 2021 host site for the Pac-12 Football Championship Game will be in Las Vegas at the new home of the Raiders, one of the National Football League’s most state-of-the-art venues.  The agreement with Las Vegas is in principle only for now, but is expected to be finalized in the near future.

Pac-12 to compete in new Los Angeles Bowl in 2020

The Pac-12 Conference announced today the addition of the Los Angeles Bowl to its postseason lineup, with the first game commencing in 2020.  The participating Pac-12 team will face a Mountain West Conference opponent.

Pac-12 Media picks Utah and Oregon

Hollwood, CA -  Utah (33 first-place votes) and Oregon (17-first place votes) were predicted to win the Pac-12 South and North respectively by a select group of 35 media members here at the annual Pac-12 Football Media Day. Utah edged out Oregon (12 first-place votes to 11) as the favorite to finish as the winner of the Pac-12 title.

Las Vegas Bowl will be played in new stadium in 2020

The Las Vegas Bowl will be getting a major upgrade in the near future.

Beginning in 2020, the Las Vegas Bowl will be played in the new, state-of-the-art Las Vegas Stadium, and will feature a team from the Pac-12 Conference against a team from either the SEC or Big Ten Conference in a six-year deal announced Tuesday at the Palms Resort.

UNLV football adds two receivers to recruiting class

Northwestern earns comeback win against Utah in 2018 Holiday Bowl, 31-20

San Diego, Calif. – The Northwestern Wildcats rallied to upset the No. 20 Utah Utes, 31-20, behind three third-quarter turnovers that the Wildcats converted into 21 points in the 41st rendition of the Holiday Bowl.

The game started with an aerial show at SDCCU Stadium with four servicemen skydiving into the center of the field -- a performance that seemed to spur Utah into trying an aerial show of its own. Unfortunately, for the Utes, redshirt freshman quarterback Jason Shelley misfired on a couple of long pass attempts, including one that looked to be a surefire TD had he hit his wide-open target.

Kentucky's Josh Allen wins 2018 Bronco Nagurski Trophy

Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen was named the recipient of the 2018 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, an award given to the best defensive player in college football.  Allen, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound linebacker from Montclair, New Jersey, becomes Kentucky's first major award winner since Bob Gain won the Outland Trophy in 1950.

Alabama is gifted final spot in College Football Playoff

The College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee announced its final top 25 rankings for 2017, controversially including Alabama among its top four teams.  In addition, the Committee also named the match-ups for the New Year’s bowls.

Alabama, a team that failed to make its own conference title game, was somehow gifted an opportunity to compete for a national title by the reclusive cabal in charge of choosing the final four playoff teams.

USC picked to win Pac-12 Title in Preseason Poll at Pac-12 Media Day

Los Angeles, CA - USC received 28 of 52 first place votes on its way to being chosen the favorite to win the Pac-12 title in this year's preseason media poll released at Pac-12 Media Day. Washington was the second choice, receiving 22 votes.

Minnesota defeats Washington in 2016 Holiday Bowl, 17-12

San Diego -- Despite the lingering distrust between the University of Minnesota football team and school officials following the recent suspension of several players for an alleged off-the-field incident, the Golden Gophers managed to ignore the distractions and play determined football, winning the 2016 Holiday Bowl by a score of 17-12 over the Washington State Cougars Tuesday night at Qualcomm Stadium in front of 48,704 fans.
