Dallas Cowboys Training Camp 2010 Update: News & Notes

August 25, 2010

Oxnard, California -- Fresh off their recent 16-14 preseason victory over the San Diego Chargers, the Dallas Cowboys continued their final week of training camp in California with an enthusiastic non-contact practice Tuesday afternoon.

The team engaged in some individual position drills, and then concluded the afternoon with an 11-on-11 "scrimmage" in shorts. Among the highlights:

1. Quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten looked fairly sharp, connecting on several passes.

2. Backup wide receiver Sam Hurd had a solid afternoon catching several passes in the scrimmage. He also ran some nice routes in one-on-one drills against the Cowboys defensive backs.

3. Free agent rookie wide receiver Terrell Hudgins had a spectacular, diving, one-handed lefty catch in a one-on-one drill.

4. The ankle of rookie first round pick Dez Bryant appears to be improving. The wide receiver ran a series of windsprints during practice, and did a mini "leap" over a railing after practice when he finished signing autographs for the fans. When asked how his ankle was feeling, Bryant optimistically stated, "Good!"

5. Second-year receiver Kevin Ogletree sat out Tuesday's afternoon practice due to a sore hamstring. He is expected to play in Saturday's exhibition against the Houston Texans.

6. Starting safety Gerald Sensabaugh also did not participate in practice due to a separated shoulder suffered against San Diego.

7. Cowboy running back and legend Calvin Hill was on hand to observe Tuesday's practice.

The Cowboys will complete the California portion of their training camp on Friday before traveling to Houston for their fourth preseason game. They will play their fifth and final exhibition on September 2, 2010, at home against the Miami Dolphins.

  1. If the 'Boys protect Romo, the receivers should deliver. This is a deep, deep group of quality wideouts. Crayton can start on many teams but is the #4 guy here.
