With the recent changes in the structure of Chivas USA's ownership, an organizational house-cleaning was expected to follow, especially given the team's disappointing 7-18-9 last-place finish in the Western Conference.
On Friday, some of those early casualties were announced, as Chivas USA parted ways with Head Coach Robin Fraser and Assistant Coach Greg Vanney. In addition, the team relieved both Head Scout Simon Elliott and Head Athletic Trainer Brian Lee, as part of the Goats’ restructuring.
In two seasons as Chivas USA’s head coach, Fraser compiled a record of 15-32-21 in MLS competition and failed to reach the playoffs. Fraser had a distinguished 10-year playing career in MLS and enjoyed four seasons as an assistant coach with Real Salt Lake.
Elliott, who played for the Goats in 2011 and recorded two assists in 24 appearances (21 starts) while logging 1,824 minutes, was hired by Chivas USA in March of this year after finishing his nine-year playing career in MLS.
