Junior Middleweight champ Demetrius Andrade cancels bout with Jermell Charlo

November 18, 2014

The stacked Amir Khan-Devon Alexander fight card scheduled for December 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas just became a little less interesting, as Golden Boy Promotions has announced that WBO Junior Middleweight World Champion Demetrius Andrade is "unavailable" for his scheduled title defense against Jermell Charlo.

Other outlets have reported that Andrade, a slick southpaw who can box, was dissatisfied with his projected purse.

It is unclear whether the Andrade-Charlo fight will be rescheduled for a later date.  According to Golden Boy's press release, "Discussions are ongoing, and additional details will be announced as soon as they are finalized."

Even with Andrade's fight no longer happening, the December 13 card still has plenty of star power, starting with the Khan-Alexander main event, and also including the co-feature pitting Interim WBA Welterweight World Champion Keith Thurman against undefeated challenger Leonard Bundu.

Abner Mares and Victor Ortiz are also scheduled to appear in separate bouts.
