Powell, a slashing swingman and an athletic defender, led UCLA in scoring in both of the team's victories last week, averaging 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. For the weekend, the senior shot 59.3 percent, connecting on 16 of 27 shots and making 12 of 14 free throws.
Powell, who is from San Diego, scored a team-high 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting with a 5-for-6 mark from the free-throw line in the Bruins’ 69-59 upset win over No. 11 Utah on Thursday. He followed that with a 22-point game two nights later versus Colorado, going 7-for-11 from the field and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe. Powell also registered five rebounds, four assists and five steals in the 72-59 win against the Buffaloes.
Powell is averaging a team-leading 16.1 points per game this season.
The honor marks Powell’s second-career weekly award, and UCLA’s 59th weekly selection all-time.

The Bruins head to the Bay Area this week, playing at Stanford on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m., and then at California on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. PT.
