University of Hawaii fills out the football schedule

March 2, 2015

All of the University of Hawaii football games are now set after the Mountain West announced its 2015 league schedule earlier today.

The 2015 season marks head coach Norm Chow’s fourth with the Rainbow Warriors. UH finished 4-9 in 2014 and fourth in the MW’s West Division.

After opening its season at home against Colorado (Sept. 3), the Rainbow Warriors will then play five of its next seven games on the road, including non-conference contests at defending national champion Ohio State (Sept. 12) and Big Ten runner-up Wisconsin (Sept. 26). In between those games is a non-conference home game against UC Davis (Sept. 19).

UH opens its conference play at Boise State (Oct. 3), then hosts San Diego State (Oct. 10) before returning to the continent for consecutive league games against New Mexico (Oct. 17) and Nevada (Oct. 24). Hawaii then hosts Air Force on Halloween (Oct. 31) before the much-anticipated UNLV game in Las Vegas on Nov. 7. The ’Bows close out the regular season with three straight homes games against Fresno State (Nov. 14), San Jose State (Nov. 21), and Louisiana-Monroe (Nov. 28).

All told, the Rainbow Warriors will play seven home games and six road games in 13 consecutive weeks, the first time in its Division I era that UH will not have a bye week.

The scheduling format for the 12-member Mountain West consists of five intra-divisional games and three cross-divisional contests. This is the third year of the initial four-year cycle in which each member institution will play every other Mountain West opponent home and away. In 2015, the cross-divisional opponents will flip from the first two years, with teams playing their new opponents from the other division.

The Mountain West Football Championship Game will be played at the home stadium of the highest-ranked of the two divisional champions on Saturday, Dec. 5.
