LA Clippers announce Summer League Orlando roster

July 1, 2015

The Los Angeles Clippers today announced their roster for the 2015 Summer League in Orlando, as the team will be competing in that league for the first time in franchise history.  The league will run from July 4-10, and will be televised on NBA TV.

Clippers' rookie forward Branden Dawson is on the roster and should see some playing time.  Los Angeles acquired his draft rights last week from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for cash considerations.

Dawson, 22, was a Second-Team All-Big Ten performer in his final season at Michigan State University. In 32 games, he averaged 11.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

Dawson (6’6”, 225), finished his four-year career for the Spartans as the all-time leader in blocks (142), fifth in starts (121), sixth in steals (163) and seventh in rebounds (902).  Dawson also was a 2011 McDonald’s All-American.

But the most intriguing name on the roster is Royce White, a talented former first round pick of the Houston Rockets, whose career fizzled due to his anxiety disorder and severe fear of flying.  White is considered a 4, but is an above-average ball handler.

Each team will play five games over the seven-day event, with a championship day being played on the final day of the league. A point system will establish the standings leading up to the final day, with eight points awarded each game: four points for winning the game and one point for winning a quarter (in the event of a tied quarter, each team will receive 0.5 points).

In the event of ties in seeding heading into championship day, three tiebreakers will be in place: 1) total point differential; 2) total points allowed; and 3) coin flip.

Due to space limitations, the event is not open to the public and will be open only to the media and professional team/league personnel.
