KINGS ROUT BRUINS IN LUCIC’S RETURN TO BOSTON

Nine different players scored – including Milan Lucic (1-1—2) in his first game back in Boston – to power the Kings to a victory in the opener of their seven-game road trip.

At 32-17-3 (67 points), the Kings maintained a seven-point lead over the Sharks (28-20-4, 60 points) – who also won – for first place in the Pacific Division.

The Kings registered nine or more goals in one game for the first time since Jan. 1, 2008 vs. CHI (9-2 W). They also became the first team to achieve that feat since the Predators on Nov. 18, 2014 at TOR (9-2 W).

Per Elias, the Kings equaled a franchise record with nine different goal-scorers in one game – a feat achieved four previous times, most recently on Jan. 21, 1987 vs. PIT (10-5 W). They also became the first team with nine different goal-scorers in one game since the Jets on Oct. 27, 2011 at PHI (9-8 W).

The Kings totaled 57 shots on goal, their highest single-game total since April 30, 1995 vs. ANA (66). Elias adds that the combined 94 shots on goal by the Kings (57) and Bruins (37) were the most in any game since the Bruins (50) and Senators (47) posted 97 on April 2, 2013.

Lucic, who received a standing ovation from the TD Garden faithful, totaled 139-203—342 over his first eight NHL seasons with the Bruins (566 GP). He also helped the team capture the Stanley Cup in 2010-11.

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (1-1—2) recorded his 300th NHL point.

Bruins forward Brad Marchand scored his 10th goal in as many games (10-0—10).

DUCKS DEFEAT FLYERS, 4-1

Rickard Rakell (2-0—2) registered his third career multi-goal game – and second of the season (also Nov. 24 vs. CGY: 2-0—2) – to power the Ducks to their seventh victory in their past eight outings. Frederik Andersen made 28 saves, including 14 in the third period, to extend his personal winning streak to six consecutive decisions – one shy of equaling his career high set Jan. 2-27, 2015 (7-0-0).

Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere posted one assist to extend his point streak to a career-high nine games (2-10—12), including helpers in eight straight. His nine-game run is one shy of equaling the franchise record for a rookie, set by Mikael Renberg March 13 – April 2, 1994 (8-8—16 in 10 GP).

KLINGBERG (AGAIN) PLAYS OVERTIME HERO FOR STARS

The Wild tied the game early in the third period, but John Klingberg scored at 2:39 of overtime to lift the Stars to their fourth win in their past five contests.

At 34-15-5 (73 points), the Stars moved within three points of the Blackhawks (36-17-4, 76 points) – who lost in regulation – for first place in the Central Division and Western Conference. Dallas has played three fewer games, but Chicago owns the ROW tiebreaker (CHI: 35, DAL: 32).

Klingberg registered his fourth career overtime goal and third of the season, tied for second in the NHL (also Nov. 14 vs. MIN and Feb. 4 at COL). His four overtime goals are a franchise record for a defenseman, one better than the three scored by Trevor Daley, Richard Matvichuk and Sergei Zubov.

Klingberg, who has totaled 3-1—4 in his last four games, shares second place among defensemen with 9-35—44 overall this season.

JOHANSSON LIFTS CAPITALS IN RETURN FROM INJURY

Marcus Johansson collected 1-2—3 – including the winning goal – in his first game since Jan. 27 to propel the Capitals to a 6-1-1 record in their last eight outings, including four straight victories.

At 39-9-4 (82 points), the Capitals moved six points ahead of the Blackhawks (36-17-4, 76 points) – who lost in regulation – for first place in the NHL standings. Their 19 road wins and 40 road points also pace the League (19-5-2).

Johansson recorded his third career three-point game and second of the season (also Dec. 20 at NYR: 1-2—3). He ranks third in the NHL with seven game-winning goals (45 GP), one shy of his career total prior to 2015-16 (345 GP).

PANTHERS SCORE SEVEN TIMES, CRUISE PAST SABRES

The Panthers matched a season high with seven goals – led by 2-1—3 from Reilly Smith and 1-2—3 from Jussi Jokinen – to improve to 6-1-1 in their last eight games overall and 8-0-2 in their past 10 visits to Buffalo dating to Oct. 29, 2011 (BUF: 2-7-1).

At 32-16-6 (70 points), the Panthers moved eight points ahead of a trio of clubs – the Lightning (29-20-4, 62 points), Red Wings (27-18-8, 62 points) and Bruins (28-19-6, 62 points) – for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Smith posted his second multi-goal game (also Oct. 10 vs. PHI: 2-0—2) and first three-point performance of the season. Jokinen added his first three-point game of 2015-16; he has notched at least one point in seven of his last eight outings (3-9—12).
