BLUES DEFEAT DUCKS, 5-2

Vladimir Tarasenko posted 2-1—3 to power the Blues to their fifth consecutive victory, matching a season high established Feb. 12-20.

Tarasenko, who notched his third multi-goal and fourth three-point performances of 2015-16, ranks sixth in the NHL with 32 goals (67 GP). He also moved within two of 100 for his NHL career (98-96—194 in 246 GP).

Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen (18 SV) suffered his first regulation loss since Dec. 21 at NYI, ending a 15-game point streak (13-0-2).

The Stars and Blues will battle for first place in the division and conference on Saturday at American Airlines Center (9:00 p.m. ET, NHLN-US, FS-MW, FS-SW). This marks the fifth and final meeting of the season between these clubs. Thus far, St. Louis is 3-1-0, and Dallas is 1-1-2 in the head-to-head series.

Blues forward Troy Brouwer played in his 600th NHL game.  The Blues also signed defenseman Carl Gunnarsson to a three-year contract extension.

PLAYOFF CLINCHING SCENARIOS FOR WASHINGTON

The Capitals will clinch a playoff berth:

* If they defeat the Sharks in any fashion; OR
* If they get one point against the Sharks AND both the Flyers and Red Wings lose in any fashion; OR
* If they get one point against the Sharks AND either the Flyers or Red Wings lose in regulation.

The Capitals cannot clinch a playoff berth if they lose to the Sharks in regulation.
