September 13, 2016

After recording four goals and three assists in just two matches last week, Los Angeles Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week for the 27th week of the 2016 MLS season. Dos Santos earns POTW honors for the second time this season, also winning in Week 7 of the 2016 MLS Regular Season.

Dos Santos notched two goals and an assist in a midweek 3-3 road draw against Real Salt Lake on Wednesday. The Mexican international then followed up with two goals and two assists in a 4-2 win over Orlando City SC Sunday at StubHub Center.

On the year, Dos Santos now has recorded 14 goals and 11 assists, ranking in the top five of each category. Dos Santos is now only one of two players league-wide to register double-digit goal and assist totals, with his 14 goals tied for fourth and his 11 assists tied for third.

LA currently sits second in the Western Conference standings (47 points, 11-4-14), and is riding a five-game unbeaten streak. The Galaxy next face Sporting Kansas City at Children's Mercy Park on Sunday, September 18 (11 a.m. PT, FOX/FOX Deportes/FOX Sports GO).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of print, television, radio, and online media.
