Oregon Men's Basketball adds Georgetown transfer Paul White

September 26, 2016

Georgetown forward and former Chicago prep star Paul White has transferred to the Oregon Men's Basketball program, Duck head coach Dana Altman announced Monday. White will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2016-17 season per NCAA transfer rules.

White missed all but seven games of his sophomore season in 2015-16 after undergoing surgery in January to repair an abdominal injury.

However, as a freshman at Georgetown in 2014-15, the 6-8, 230-pound White averaged 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game as the Hoyas advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He scored 10 points in Georgetown’s NCAA opening round win over Eastern Washington.

White was a national top 50 recruit out of Chicago’s Whitney Young High School, averaging 22 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals per game as a senior. White helped lead his team to the 2014 Illinois IHSA 4A State Championship.

He was rated among the ESPN Top 50 nationally and was ranked No. 16 among power forwards and No. 54 overall by Rivals.com. White was selected to the USA Basketball U-16 Developmental Team in 2011-12 and was named to the Les Schwab Invitational First Team in 2013.
