LA Galaxy sign defender Sheanon Williams

June 14, 2018

The Los Angeles Galaxy have signed defender Sheanon Williams, the club announced. Williams, 28, joins the Galaxy after collecting 192 MLS appearances during stints with the Philadelphia Union, Houston Dynamo, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

In a separate move, the Galaxy announced that defender Emrah Klimenta has been released from the club.  He made two starts for the Galaxy this year.

“Sheanon is a player that adds valuable MLS experience to our backline at a position of need,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid. “We believe he will bolster our right back position and we are excited to add him to our roster. We thank Emrah for his contributions and wish him the best of luck.”

Williams signed with the Philadelphia Union in 2010 to begin his MLS career. Since then, he has gone on to make 192 appearances in MLS, scoring seven goals and adding 25 assists during his time with the Union (2010-2015), Houston Dynamo (2015-2016) and the Vancouver Whitecaps (2018).
