Belmont Stakes 2010 Prediction: Ice Box

June 5, 2010

After a careful look at the horses and their recent performances, it seems easy to predict that Ice Box will win the 142nd Belmont Stakes.

With neither Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, nor Preakness Winner Lookin At Lucky entered in today's race, Ice Box appears likely to pull off the win and upset First Dude, the Sarah Palin-themed horse.

Indeed, Palin herself will be in attendance today to see First Dude run, but much like her political career, there will be no happy endings. First Dude will go home empty-handed.

Anticipate Ice Box to win it late after the final turn, when many of the horses will have instinctively felt the need to race ahead early with a lot of ground left to cover on Belmont's large track. I pick Ice Box and jockey Jose Lezcano to win it by half-a-length.
