Due to Jose Aldo's injury, a new five-round main event has been scheduled for the July 21 UFC 149, featuring bantamweights Urijah Faber and Renan Barao clashing in a title bout. Aldo originally was to face Erik Koch in a fight for the featherweight title.
Faber, a former WEC featherweight champion, is 3-1 when fighting at 135 pounds, but will be taking on an opponent who has not lost in 27 straight fights in Barao. Barao has won successive fights at 135 pounds over Cole Escovedo, Brad Pickett, and Scott Jorgensen.
The Calgary event is expected to have another bout added to the card in the coming days, as Mauricio "Shogun" Rua’s bout against Thiago Silva also was scratched due to an injury to Silva.
