Jeff Long to remain chairman of CFP Selection Committee

January 26, 2015

After all the debate about the four-team College Football Playoff this season, in the end, it became difficult to vigorously dispute the committee's inclusion of Ohio State over an explosive TCU squad, since the Buckeyes ultimately proved worthy by winning the national championship.

Apparently, the committee itself approved of its work as well, as it kept things status quo and unanimously re-elected Jeff Long, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics at the University of Arkansas, as chairman of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.

“I appreciate the confidence that the committee members have shown in me,” said Long.  “I am truly honored that they have chosen me to serve in this capacity this coming year.   The real strength of this committee is the work that each member does to rank the teams each week and ultimately select the best four teams for the playoff.  I am honored to represent them in the role of chair.”

With a 37-year career in college athletics, Long has served as director of athletics at three universities and held coaching and senior administrative positions at seven other universities. Long has experience as an athletics director or senior administrator in five Division I conferences.
