Golden Boy Promotions signs super welterweight Patrick Teixeira

Golden Boy Promotions continued its recent run on talented boxers, the latest being undefeated Brazilian brawler Patrick Teixeira, who signed a promotional contract with company, it was announced today.  Teixeira is a WBO Latin Super Welterweight Champion, and has a record of 24 wins with 20 knockouts.

"Today is a very special day for my professional career," said Patrick Teixeira.  "My dream was to sign with Golden Boy Promotions and get to know Oscar De La Hoya. I know that more opportunities will open up as a result of my signing on to the exclusive roster of fighters at Golden Boy Promotions and they will guide my career down the right path in order for me to give great performances for all my fans."

Teixeira is a power puncher from Sao Paulo, Brazil, but he has also fought in Mexico City, Miami, and Southern California as well.

"American fans unfamiliar with the hard-hitting power and one-punch knockout potential of Patrick Texiera will soon know his name -- and so will his opponents in the Super Welterweight division," said Oscar De La Hoya, founder and president of Golden Boy Promotions. "We look forward to a long relationship with Patrick that ends with him reaching his full potential of winning a world championship belt."

A professional since 2009, the 24-year old wants to follow in the steps of another exciting Brazilian, three-time world champion Acelino Freitas.

Most recently, Teixeira beat Ulises David Lopez for the WBO Latino Super Welterweight title, knocking Lopez down in the second round and winning the fight by knockout in the third round. In 2012, Teixeira surprised many when he traveled to Mexico and defeated Omar Vasquez via an eighth round technical knockout.
