Los Angeles Galaxy sign defender Dan Gargan

January 21, 2015

The Los Angeles Galaxy continue to make efforts to keep their championship core intact, as the team announced that it has re-signed defender Dan Gargan.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A nine-year MLS veteran, Gargan signed with the Galaxy in March of 2014 before going on to start in 27 MLS Regular Season games for a Galaxy backline that was tied for the fewest goals allowed in MLS with 37.

In addition to his regular season contributions, Gargan also played a vital role in the postseason when he appeared in all five of the Galaxy’s playoff matches as the Galaxy became the first team to win five MLS Cups.

Gargan, 32, joined the Galaxy ahead of the 2014 season after spending the previous year with the San Jose Earthquakes. With 29 total appearances with the Galaxy in 2014, Gargan enjoyed the most productive season of his MLS career, notching career highs in appearances (29), starts (27) and assists (5), with his five assists tied for the most of any MLS Defender.

Gargan has made a total 160 MLS appearances during his career, scoring two goals and recording 14 assists.
